Pedantry and mastery are opposite attitudes toward rules. To apply a rule to the letter, rigidly, unquestioningly, in cases where it fits and in cases where it does not fit, is pedantry... To apply a rule with natural ease, with judgment, noticing the cases where it fits, and without ever letting the words of the rule obscure the purpose of the action or the opportunities of the situation, is mastery.

OSF offers instruction in modern, competitive, sport, Olympic style fencing.
We promote fencing as a recreational activity through group classes for various age groups and technical levels. As a recreation, we teach the physical skills of the modern sport, but emphasize having fun while exercising.
OSF also trains serious competitors who wish to excel at the highest levels of the sport. We train the technical skills, the physical conditioning, the mental skills, and the tactics and strategies needed to meet each individual's goals.
